On November 17th Fantastic Norway was awarded the 2010 Iakov Chernikovs Architecture Prize by the ICIF. We here at ArchDaily have previously featured the work of Fantastic Norway and wish to congratulate them on their accolades and share with our readers some examples of their work.

Fantastic Norway started as an itinerant architectural office in a red camper, 2004. For three years the founders Håkon Matre Aasarød and Erlend Blakstad Haffner, drove from place to place in Norway and generated debate and proposals in close consultation with the communities they visited. The office was known through the active use of local media, participation and unorthodox methods.
Today Fantastic Norway has established a designers office in Oslo and is now partly relevant with a TV series about architecture that will be shown at the Norwegian National Broadcasters main channel in January 2011. This week, the office also set out for the second time in Architecture Biennale in Venice, and participates in an international workshop for architects and artists in India.
The Iakov Chernikhov International Prize was created to stimulate creativity within the field of architecture, in order to solve the social and cultural problems and to support the humanistic principles of architecture. The organization is located in Moscow, but mainly consists of international architecture profiles.
The prize is awarded every other year. Candidates for the award must be under 44 years of age and show an innovative response to challenges of our time while providing a professional challenge for the future. An international expert panel consisting of 30 renowned international architects nominated in the first game of 133 candidates from around the world. Then cut the field, led by curator Stefano Boeri, to the winner. In addition to the award is a compensation of 50,000 Euro.
